CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team came away with a comfortable 82-56 win over SCIAC opponent Caltech on Saturday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium.
 
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens have won their third-straight game and improved to 16-4 overall and 9-2 in SCIAC play.
 
The Sagehens had four players in double figures as Ty Bergman led the way with 19, Jasper Hedin with 17, Joe Cookson with 16 and Hayden Moser came off the bench with 10 in the win.
 
The Sagehens shot well from three in the win over the Beavers with 44.8% from the field and 42.1% from three hitting on 8-19 from beyond the arc.  Pomona-Pitzer controlled every statistical category against Caltech with the edge on rebounds, 40-27 points in the paint 30-14, second chance points 14-6, and points off of turnovers 18-4.
 
Caltech stayed with the Sagehens in the early stages of the first half keeping pace at 15-15 with 12:38 left until halftime.  Pomona-Pitzer then broke the game open a bit with a 12-0 run capped off by a Bergman and-one to take a 27-15 lead. The Sagehens ended the first half with another run and took a 44-25 lead into the break.
 
Pomona-Pitzer continued to extend its lead early in the second half after they came out a halftime outscoring Caltech 15-9 to take a 59-34 lead with five minutes gone in the second half.  With the game in hand up 20+ points, Pomona-Pitzer slowed down on offense as they controlled the flow of the game down the stretch to cap off what was a solid victory at home to extend its SCIAC winning streak.
