Bannai And Sagehens Take Second At SCIAC I

COSTA MESA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Golf team finished in second place at the SCIAC I Tournament this past weekend at Los Lagos.
 
Pomona-Pitzer got out to a great start during the two-day tournament after they led with a team score of 275 after day one. The Sagehens shot a 275 and a 284 for a total score of 559, which was seven strokes off of first-placed CMS with 552 and nine strokes better than La Verne and California Lutheran who tied for third overall.
 
Yuki Bannai led the Sagehens and finished second overall with a score of 135. Bannai had a great opening round and sat at -2 through the front nine. He finished with five birdies and an Eagle on hole 8 for a score of 67. Bannai came back with five birdies on day two for his score of 68 to end the tournament in second place.
 
Max Rockrohr also finished inside the top-5 for the Sagehens tying for fifth place overall with a score of 139. Rockrohr started the day with a great round of 68 that featured five birdies and came back with a 71 on day two after sinking three birdies to tie for fifth overall.
 
John Kim was the third lowest score of the Sagehens with his 143 which landed him tied for 15th overall. Kim shot a 71 in day one with an up-and-down round that had six birdies, three bogeys, and a double to finish one under par. Kim came back even the next day with three birdies and three bogeys for a 72 to tie for 15th.
 
Ending the SCIAC I for the Sagehens was Tucker Lee and Alexander Oh who both tied for 17th overall with a 144. Lee shot a 71 in his first round out with five birdies and came back for a 73 with two birdies and 14 pars while Oh had a very good first round of golf with a 69 in day one sinking six birdies and came back with a 75 in day two to finish at 144.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete in the CLU Invitational on Monday, March 11th at Moorpark CC.
