CLAREMONT, CA. – Pomona-Pitzer forward
Hannah Hong earned SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year honors as well as six All-SCIAC honorees as announced by the conference office.
Highlighting the awards was standout forward
Hannah Hong earning SCIAC Player of the Year honors becoming the second-straight Sagehen to earn the award. Hong emerged as the conference's premier scoring threat with an expected breakout season in which the winger notched a league-best seven goals, including four game-winners, in conference play. Hong also led the conference in shots (30) and shots on goal (19) with a clinical 23 percent conversion rate as a threat to score from anywhere in the opposition's half.
The Sagehens also earned four more SCIAC First Team members with
Patricia DePalma,
Spencer Deutz,
Vivian Rojas Collins and
Ella Endo earning First Team honors with
Ava Watanabe garnishing Second Team All-SCIAC.
To no surprise, the Sagehens' defense showcased three All-SCIAC selections for their efforts this season. The defense allowed five goals this season and averaged 0.29 goals against per contest. DePalma was tabbed as the SCIAC's top goalkeeper with 11 shutouts, 41 saves and a 0.891 save percentage.
Center back Rojas Collins earned First Team All-SCIAC as one of the top defenders in the league. She is a big part of the defenses' success and also gets forward to help the attack with two goals and an assist this season.
Deutz earned First Team honors again this season from her fullback slot. Deutz earned six points this season with two goals and two assists with one game-winning goal.
Ending the First Team selections was the 2023 SCIAC Player of the Year. Endo led the midfield this season with nine points coming from four goals and one assist this season.
Ending the selections for the Sagehens was Watanabe who earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors as a midfielder. Watanabe provided the Sagehens with another solid option in a very good midfield. She played a holding role to facilitate the flow from offense to defense and provided a box-to-box role for the Sagehens this season.
The Sagehens will host the SCIAC Semifinals on Wednesday, November 6
th at 2:00 p.m. against Whittier College.
