Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team won the Sixth Street Rivalry Saturday afternoon, defeating Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with a final score of 2-0.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 8-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens delivered a strong performance throughout the match, defeating the Athenas in a physical game. The first half remained tightly contested until the breakthrough came in the 40th minute, when Ella Endo opened the scoring for the Sagehens. Vivian Rojas Collins delivered a perfect free kick assist into the box, and Endo headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Sagehens' momentum continued early in the second half. Just six minutes after the start, Imogen Jenkyn found Hannah Hong, who powered in a header to make it 2-0 in the 51st minute.
Pomona-Pitzer controlled much of the rest of the game, outshooting the Athenas 13-5 and never allowing them to find their rhythm. Solid defending kept the Athenas' offense silent and the Sagehens came out on top, 2-0.
