PASADENA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team defeated Occidental 3-0 Friday night on the road at Caltech.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens are 7-6 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens attacked right away and jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the first set thanks to kills from Chloe Gill, Kellan Hayes, and Charlotte Sekerka. The Sagehens and the Beavers then traded points before a kill by Paige Mountanos made the score 17-12. The Sagehens went on to win the set 25-19.The Beavers came out strong in the second set taking the lead three times but Samantha Grabb put a stop to that with two crucial kills making the score 14-12. After gaining their momentum back, the Sagehens never looked back and went on to take set two 25-21.

The third set went back and forth and it was a constant battle between the Sagehens and the Beavers. The score was tied a total of 13 times and there were seven score changes. Grabb led the way with six kills in the third set alone. The Sagehens broke through and won 25-21 and defeated the Beavers in three sets.
