CLAREMONT, CA. — Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo pulled away in the second half to defeat La Verne 17-12 Wednesday night at Haldeman Pool.

Conrad Hugar led Pomona-Pitzer with a career-high six goals on eight shots to go with a pair of steals.
Darragh Flanders and
Logan Colman posted three goals on the night while
Indigo Lee dished out three assists.Â

Teams traded goals to start the game, with back-to-back goals from Flanders and
Zach Whitfield giving the Sagehens an early 4-3 lead. The Leopards responded with a 4-2 run to take a 7-6 advantage at the break.Â

Hugar scored midway through the third to tie the game at 8-8, before scores from Colman and
Jack Ryan gave the Sagehens a two-point advantage, 11-9. La Verne cut its deficit to one, 12-11, heading into the final quarter, before a 5-0 Pomona-Pitzer run all but sealed the deal. Hugar, Colman, Whitfield,
Max Distaso and Flanders each scored in the run as the Sagehens came away with the 17-12 win.Â
