LA VERNE, CA. — Pomona-Pitzer women's volleyball dropped its road contest at La Verne in three sets (11-25, 14-25, 19-25) Saturday evening.Â

Season Impact: The result moves the Sagehens to 10-7 on the season, including 5-2 in SCIAC play.Â

Paige Mountanos led Pomona-Pitzer with a team-high eight kills on a .217 clip, while
Kellan Hayes contributed seven kills and two blocks.
Mikayla Hsieh posted a match-high 15 digs and
Kylie Mies had a team-high 13 assists to go with eight digs.Â

The Leopards got out to an early 11-3 advantage in the first set, before a
Tene Ariyo kill made it 14-5.
Chloe Gill and Hayes posted back-to-back kills late, but La Verne came away with the 25-11 set one win.Â

Teams traded points in the second set, with a pair of Hayes kills making it 5-4 for La Verne. The Leopards, though, scored four straight to later take a 16-10 lead. Mountanos posted a pair of kills late but La Verne went on to take set two, 25-14.Â

The Sagehens hung around early in the third set, with an anna Krebs kill followed by a Hayes service ace tying things up at 6-6. A kill from Hayes and a
Savanna Cespedes ace later put Pomona-Pitzer up, 12-11. But La Verne used an 11-3 run to go up 22-15 before Krebs posted another kill. The Leopards went on to win set three, 25-19, and win the match 3-0.Â
