10/7/2023 9:01:00 PM

Box Score  LA VERNE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team went on the road and drew against SCIAC opponent La Verne on Saturday night at Ortmayer Stadium.

Season Impact: with the draw, the Sagehens move to 2-5-4 overall and 1-3-3 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Keyon Namdar who netted the only goal for the Sagehens in the draw.

The two teams went pretty even on shots as La Verne fired off 13 with the Sagehens shooting 11 times. La Verne put eight of those 13 on goal to the Sagehens' six while the Sagehens had six corners with the Leopards coming away with four chances off corner kicks.

The Sagehens struck first as they got on the board early with a gift from the La Verne goalkeeper after he played a goal kick that wandered straight to the feet of Namdar who slotted it past the keeper off of the 1-on-1 to get the Sagehens to play from in front within the first two minutes of play.

After taking a 1-0 lead for the entire first half and into halftime, the Sagehens gave up their lead just two minutes into the second half after a cross into the box was mishandled by the Sagehen keeper and fell to the feet of a Leopard striker who beat the backline with an open net and even the game at 1-1.

The Leopards threatened late as they tried to get the win at home, but Ethan Bae came up with some big saves late in the game and ended with seven saves on the night to preserve the draw.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host SCIAC opponent Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, October 11th at 4:00 p.m.
