CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's soccer team defeated the University of Redlands 4-1 in a home SCIAC match on Wednesday evening. The Sagehens were led by Eliana Prosnitz who scored a brace, including a goal from 20 yards out that just slipped under the crossbar while Kendrick Dahlin and Melanie Ng each recorded a goal of their own. With the win, the Sagehens are now 6-1-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in conference play. Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 1 when they host California Lutheran at 11:00 a.m.

The opening 25 minutes of the contest were mainly played in the midfield as the two teams battled for possession. The Sagehens were able to take two shots in those opening 25 minutes but the attempts from Amanda Khu and Hannah Hong both went wide.  

In the 30th minute, Hannah Mandell sprinted down a ball that nearly crossed the end line, sending it on across the box to Kendrick Dahlin who put it in the back of the net on her first touch, putting the Sagehens up 1-0. Just over five minutes later, the Sagehens recorded their second goal of the game as Eliana Prosnitz ripped a shot from just outside the box that deflected of a Redlands player and found the back of the net. 

Trailing 2-0, the Bulldogs were able to counter late in the half, scoring with under a minute left after picking up an uncleared ball in the box. 

Pomona-Pitzer controlled the ball for much of the second half, outshooting the Bulldogs 13-1. The Sagehens saw their next goal off the foot of Eliana Prosnitz as she notched her second one of the day, this time striking one just under the crossbar from 20 yards out to make it 3-1 in the 79th minute. The Sagehens final goal of the game came in the 89th minute as Melanie Ng slotted one through for her first goal of the season to cap off the 4-1 win for Pomona-Pitzer.
