Box Score LA VERNE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer Team fell to SCIAC opponent La Verne 1-0 on the road on Wednesday night at Ortmayer Stadium.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in SCIAC play this season.
The Sagehens were the aggressors on offense as they outshot La Verne 17-8 with eight shots on goal. Pomona-Pitzer also managed to earn six corner kicks but were held scoreless again in the 1-0 defeat.
The Sagehens came away with a big stop early in the first half as Will Brooks stopped a one v one chance for the Leopards to keep the game even at 0-0. The game went scoreless for the majority of the first half, but the Leopards netted the only goal of the contest just before halftime on a long shot outside the box to make it 1-0 in the 43rd minute.
La Verne packed the box in the second half to preserve the 1-0 lead with the Sagehens searching for an equalizer. A couple good chances late in the game were sent away by the Leopards' keeper as Pomona-Pitzer suffered its second-straight 1-0 defeat in SCIAC play.
