Vanguard Beats Pomona-Pitzer At Home, 3-0

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team fell to non-conference opponent Vanguard 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Field.

Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens drop to 1-2 on the year.

Th Sagehens had a very similar stat line to the Lions despite the 3-0 defeat. The Sagehens took just one less shot than Vanguard at 8-7 while having one more corner opportunity with three to the Lions' two.

Pomona-Pitzer had a few chances early in the game but failed to get out to an early lead.  The Lions went on to make the first goal of the game in the ninth minute after a long shot just outside the box found the corner to make it 1-0.

The Lions doubled up on their lead in the 24th minute after a sub made an immediate impact with a quick one on one chance to put Vanguard up 2-0 heading into halftime. 

Pomona-Pitzer had the majority of possession throughout the game but couldn't put chances together in the final third. After pressing the attack deep into the second half trying to cut the lead down to one, the Lions netted their third off of a corner in the 86th minute to hand the Sagehens their first loss at home this season.
