Box Score SANTA BARBARA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team fell on the road to non-conference opponent Westmont 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Thorrington Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 1-1 overall.
The Sagehens stayed with the Warriors throughout the majority of the contest as both teams were scoreless through 70 minutes of the match. Westmont held a slight advantage on shots with 14 to the Sagehens' 10, but Pomona-Pitzer put five shots on target while Westmont only tallied three for the game.
Westmont had the breakthrough goal in the 72nd minute of the game after the Warriors got into the box and converted a close opportunity to take a 1-0 lead. The Sagehens tried to find an equalizer immediately after, but Westmont doubled up their lead seven minutes later after a cross in the box was headed in to give the Sagehens a 2-0 deficit.
The Sagehens had two more attempts blocked late in the second half as they continued to search for a late goal but came up empty to fall 2-0 to Westmont on the road.
