Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Football team moved to 2-0 in SCIAC play after their 56-7 win over La Verne on Saturday night at Merritt Field.
With the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-1 overall and remain unbeaten in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by Skylar Noble who had his second-straight four-touchdown performance with one in the air and three on the ground. Noble was 15-18 in the air for a score and had 12 rushes for 59 yards and three TDs on the ground. Kenric Jameison led the rushing attack with 66 yards and a score while Quinten Wimmer led the receivers with 60 yards and a touchdown.
The defense was led by Thomas McConnell who ended the day with 10 total tackles and a tackle for a loss. Graham Olson ended the night with three sacks, while Mark Carling, Thali Cobb, and Nicholas DelBiaggio also registered sacks in the win.
The Sagehens didn't waste any time scoring in the first quarter as Noble rushed in a three-yard touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. The Sagehens quickly added their second touchdown of the night after a three-yard pass from Noble to Wimmer to double the lead at 14-0.
La Verne responded with a big fourth down conversion and punched in a one-yard touchdown to cut the lead down to 14-7 but the Sagehens added their third score of the first quarter from a Noble 30-yard scamper to go up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Clark Baker and Noble both added rushing touchdowns for the Sagehens in the second quarter as Baker ran in an 11-yard score with Noble adding his third rushing touchdown from six yards out to extend the lead to 35-7 at the half.
Pomona-Pitzer added some trickery in the third quarter after a reverse pass from Sander Wimmer to Will Radice for 21 yards put the Sagehens up 42-7 with 10:48 left in the third. Pomona-Pitzer ended the night with two more long rushing touchdowns as Baker ran in a 24-yard rush and Jameison capped off the night with a 29-yard touchdown to close out a 56- point performance for the Sagehen offense.
