Box Score WHITTIER, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team ended their regular season with a 3-2 win over Whittier on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens end the regular season in third place in the SCIAC with a 7-6 overall record and 6-4 in conference play.
The Sagehens had three goal scorers with Matthew Carlson, Jeffrey Tiglon, and Mikey Ross while Jorge Guillen Lopez finished with an assist.
Pomona-Pitzer needed a win to finish inside the top three of the SCIAC regular season and did so from behind after Whittier netted a quick goal in the fourth minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead.
The Sagehens struck back with Carlson off a low shot just outside the box the make it all even at 1-1 heading into halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer came out of halftime and took their first lead of the game after Tiglon beat his man down the left side and converted off of a tight angle on goal to put the Sagehens on top 2-1 in the 55th minute.
The Sagehens held their lead for just over 12 minutes before the Poets found the back of the net for the second time to make it 2-2 with 24 minutes to play.
The game-winner came for the Sagehens in the 81st minute after Ross got the ball in the middle of the box and beat the keeper to put the Sagehens on top late and surely secured the three points to end the year.
