Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer soccer team took down the Cal Tech Beavers with an 8-0 shutout at home, seeing a covey of Sagehens record goals from six different scorers total. Pomona-Pitzer scored four goals in the first half and four goals in the second half. Overall, the Sagehens outshot the Beavers 28-1 while earning a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Sagehens will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 29 on the road against the Redlands Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.
First Four
Pomona-Pitzer wasted no time finding the net after Hannah Mandell slotted the ball to Charlotte Tapp who put it on frame to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.
The Sagehens dominated possession, keeping the ball in the attacking third, recording four more shots before Ciannah Correa beat the keeper and ripped her shot to the left for her first goal of the year and a 2-0 Sagehen lead in the 25th minute.
Just over 10 minutes later, Eliana Prosnitz took a rip and slipped it just under the crossbar to make it 3-0. In the 38th minute, Amanda Khu increased the lead to 4-0 which would hold through the end of the first half.
Second Four
Much like the first half, the Sagehens controlled possession and struck early after Kelsey Shintaku found the net in the 53rd minute to make it 5-0. Later, in the 67th minute, Ayehu Clements slotted the ball to Amanda Khu who tucked her shot just past the keeper, making it 6-0. Pomona-Pitzer didn't stop there as Khu dished the ball to Isla Burch just 17 seconds later. Burch settled the ball and found the net to give Pomona-Pitzer the 7-0 lead. Capping off the day was Eliana Prosnitz with her second goal of the game, this time off her head after Shay Reifert sent the ball in off the corner, giving the Sagehens the 8-0 lead and eventual win over the Cal Tech Beavers.
