Box Score PASADENA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team went on the road and came away with a 3-1 win over Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Caltech on Saturday afternoon at North Field.
With the win, the Sagehens increase their win streak to five-straight games and improve to 5-1 overall and remain perfect at 3-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens had three different goal scorers as Kyle Lau, Jeffrey Tiglon and Hunter Thu all found the back of the net in the win.
Pomona-Pitzer outplayed a formidable Caltech opponent as they outshot the Beavers 16-7 and only allowed two shots on goal in the game. The Sagehens had their offense working early as they connect just 4 minutes and 22 seconds into the game as Tiglon found Lau for the goal to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead early.
However, Caltech recovered and then evened up the score in the 27th minute with a goal and held off the Sagehens' late first half attack to go into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Sagehens dominated possession in the second half and finally got their go-ahead goal in the 61st minute after a save from the keeper bounce Tiglon's way and slotted it past the keeper to give the Sagehens the 2-1 advantage.
Pomona-Pitzer wasn't done on offense just yet as they scored an insurance goal in the 80th minute after Thu netted a goal off of a pass from Sean Donovan to extend the lead to 3-1.
Caltech had no answer for the Sagehens' defense late in the game and Pomona-Pitzer left Pasadena with their fifth-straight win.
