Box Score WHITTIER, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Football team defeated Whittier College in a non-conference matchup, 59-16 on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
With the win, the Sagehens get their first win of the season and improve to 1-1 overall.
The Sagehens were led by Evan Flitz who had a career-high six touchdowns in the win with four throwing and two on the ground.
Kenric Jameison led the rushers with 42 yards and a touchdown while Win Hunter led the receiving core with 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Nate Barewin led the defense in tackles with seven while Nicholas Kaufman and Ben Porter each had a sack and Thomas McConnell came away with an interception.
Flitz had the offense going early as he contributed to the Sagehens first three touchdowns of the night. Flitz started with back-to-back touchdowns runs on the Sagehens first two drives and then connected with Quinten Wimmer on 38-yard touchdown pass to give the Sagehens a 21-0 lead.
Whittier got on the board with a field goal for their first points of the game to end the first quarter with the Sagehens up 21-3.
The Sagehens and Flitz responded again with a 10-yard touchdown strike to Hunter to extend the lead to 28-3 but Whittier responded with its only touchdown of the half to cut the lead down to 28-9. Pomona-Pitzer picked up seven more before halftime as Flitz and Eamon Glascott connected in the endzone on a nine-yard pass as the Sagehens went into the locker room with a 35-9 lead.
The Sagehens came out and scored first in the second half as Flitz ended his six-touchdown night in a big way with a 66-yard touchdown pass to Hunter to push the lead to 42-9. Pomona-Pitzer earned two more touchdowns on the ground as James Byrne and Jameison found the endzone in the fourth quarter as Pomona-Pitzer cruised to a big win against the Poets
