Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team ended their regular season home schedule with big 5-0 win over SCIAC opponent Caltech on Saturday morning at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Field.
Before the game, the Sagehens honored its five seniors who are graduating this year in Jonathan Rushton, Jasper Taback, Chris Espinosa, Daniel Tamkin and Jared Mejia.
With the win, the Sagehens improve to 7-4-1 on the year with a 5-3-2 conference record. Pomona-Pitzer had five different goal scorers in the game with Jorge Guillen-Lopez, Kyle Lau, Matthew Carlson, Graeme Logan and Mikey Ross all finding the back of the net in the win.
The Sagehens wasted no time getting out to an early lead as they scored two goals within the first 12 minutes of the match. Kicking things off was Guillen-Lopez who first-timed a cross from Logan to put the Sagehens on top 1-0 in the 7th minute.
The Sagehens doubled up just six minutes later as Carlson found Lau for a power strike past the keeper to push the lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute. The Sagehens went into halftime with a 2-0 lead but that didn't stop the offense as Carlson got his goal in the 51st minute after taking a rebounded shot and slotted in just to the right of the keeper to improve the lead to 3-0.
The Sagehens ended up drawing a penalty just over a minute later as Logan drew the call and then took the ball and converted the penalty to put the Sagehens on top 4-0. Ending the scoring day for the Sagehens was Ross who got on the end of a clean header over the keeper to cap off a huge scoring day for the Sagehens with the 5-0 win over Caltech.
