Box Score PASADENA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer Team finished their Saturday afternoon showdown with Caltech on the road in a draw, leaving the score 2-2 in double overtime. Dylan McCuskey and Henry Smith found the net for the Sagehens while Sam Klauer and Samir Johnson netted for the Beavers. Jonathon Rushton made seven saves.
Season Impact: The Sagehens are now 3-9-4 overall and 2-5-3 in the SCIAC.
The Sagehens opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Peter Heckendorn delivered a low cross from the wing to the inside post. McCuskey was there to touch the ball past the keeper for the opener. The Sagehens almost had their second just two minutes later when Cole Martin connected on a corner kick, but his shot was saved by the keeper. Heckendorn almost doubled up in the 32nd and 35th minute, but both his attempts were snuffed out by the keeper.
Caltech equalized in the second half during the 59th minute as Klauer scored with a high cross that curled into the net. It wasn't until the 73rd minute when the Sagehens took back the lead when Jorge Guillen-Lopez delivered a free kick into the box and Henry Smith connected for the goal. However, Caltech equalized in the 87th minute when Samir Johnson scored off a cross by Kevin Yu.
In first overtime, Henry Smith almost found the game-winner in the 99th minute but saw his attempt saved. Daniel Tamkin almost found the net in second overtime in the 105th minute, but his attempt was saved as well. The Sagehens couldn't find the game-winner as the game ended in a tie.
