Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong closed the first set with a kill off a pass by Tong to make it 25-19.

The Sagehens looked more in control at the start of the second set, jumping to a 9-5 lead thanks to some major offense by Zwaal who recorded two kills during the run. Ahead 18-15, the Sagehens mounted a brief rally thanks to some excellent tosses by Sara Ryerson who delivered a perfect pass from behind to Addo-Ashong for the kill. She followed with another pass to Harrison to make it 20-15. Kayla Krilove closed out the set 25-19 with a kill off a pass by Ryerson to give the Hens a 2-0 lead.

Julia Zwaal sparked a brief rally to open up the third set, delivering a booming hit to score the opening point. Addo-Ashong followed with a kill of her own and Caltech committed an attacking error as the Sagehens led 3-0.
