Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands 1-0 on Saturday night at Farquhar Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 4-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in SCIAC play while Redlands drops to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play this season.
The Sagehens were led by senior Natasha Thornton-Clark who tallied the only goal of the day in the win. Freshman Chloe Hamer notched an assist off of the goal from Thornton-Clark and pushed her consecutive point streak to six games.
Sophomore Isa Berardo earned the win in goal for the Sagehens as she tallied four saves and earned her first shutout of the year.
The Sagehens scored the only goal of the night early on against the Bulldogs as Hamer drove the ball down the right side of the field and played in a cross that found Thornton-Clark as she found the back of the net to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the match.
The Bulldogs took six shots in the first half but the Sagehens defense stayed solid as they went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Redlands tried to battle back on their home field in the second half but after gaining an early lead in the first half, the Sagehens tightened up on defense and held off the Bulldogs to earn their third shutout of the season.
