Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team tied with the Whittier Poets 0-0 on Wednesday night at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Field.
Pomona-Pitzer moves to 4-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play and the Poets move to 3-2-2 overall with a 1-1-1 SCIAC record.
The Sagehens had plenty of offense in the 0-0 tie as they outshot the Poets 25-3 with nine shots on goal.
Senior Katie Tao and junior Sofia Barsher had two close chances in the first half as Tao had a free kick skip off the crossbar and Barsher had a shot from the left side of the box deflect off of the post.
The Pomona-Pitzer defense had little to worry about against the Whittier offense as they held the Poets to only one shot in the first half and limited them to only two shots in the second.
The Sagehens dominated possession throughout the game and forced the ball into the Poets' defensive zone but could not seem to find the back of the net.
The Sagehens struck the post an additional two times in the second half bringing their total to four frame shots for the game.
