Box Score

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team fell in their home opener to Biola 74-50 on Wednesday night at Voelkel Gymnasium.

The Sagehens were led by sophomore Daniel Rosenbaum who had a team-high 14 points. Sophomore Corbin Koch finished right behind Rosenbaum with 13.

Biola was led by Caelan Tiongson who tallied a game-high 16 points and had eight rebounds. The Eagles had four players in double digits with Tiongson, Trevor Treinen with 14, Dakari Archer with 12 and Ryan Swain with 10.

The Eagles played physical defense all night against the Sagehens and kept Pomona-Pitzer off their rhythm on offense as they held to just 36.4 percent from the field.  Biola controlled the paint for the game as well as they had 40 of their 74 points come from inside the paint.

The Pomona-Pitzer offense had its troubles in the first half as the eagles began the game on an 11-2 run. The Sagehens were held to just 45 percent from the field in the first half as they went into the locker room down 37-23.

The Sagehens came out in the second half and found some offense as they opened up on a 7-2 run to cut the lead down to 39-30 after a pair of Rosenbaum free throws but Biola immediately responded with a 23-3 run to extend their lead to 62-33 with 9:03 remaining.

Pomona-Pitzer began to battle back late in the second half but the Eagles' lead was too much to overcome as the Sagehens fell in their home opener.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next co-host the annual David Wells Classic and will play Southwestern at Roberts Pavilion on the campus of Claremont McKenna on Friday, November 25th at 3:30 p.m.
