Women's Basketball: Pomona-Pitzer Falls To Chapman 80-64

ORANGE, Calif. -- The Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Chapman 80-64 on Tuesday night at the Hutton Sports Center.

Pomona-Pitzer was led by junior Basha Brulee-Wills who shared a game-high 23 points and had a game-high 15 rebounds in the loss for the Sagehens. Also in double-digits was junior Alaina Woo who tallied 10 points and junior Kacie Hitomi came off the bench with 11 points.   

Chapman was led by Jaime Hum-Nishikado who led the Panthers with 23 points.

The Sagehens fell behind early in the first quarter as Chapman came out on a 10-3 run to open up the game. The Panthers expanded that lead to 24-18 at the end of the first quarter.

Pomona-Pitzer battled in the second quarter as the Sagehens shot 46% in the quarter but could not gain any ground on Chapman as they went into the locker room down 45-34

The Sagehens made a run in second half as they found themselves only down seven points at 57-50 after a pair of Brulee-Wills free throws with 9:26 left in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers responded by closing out the fourth quarter outscoring the Sagehens 23-16 and went on to hand Pomona-Pitzer its second-straight SCIAC loss.

The Sagehens continue SCIAC play as they host Redlands on Saturday, January 9th at 4 p.m.
