Women's Basketball Overpowered by Wheaton, 88-50

Claremont, Calif. - Pomona-Pitzer's women's basketball team fell behind early, and couldn't make up the gap against a strong Wheaton (IL) squad Saturday afternoon at home in Voelkel Gym. Visiting Wheaton won, 88-50, over the Sagehens. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 1-5, while Wheaton climbs to 5-1. 

The Thunder roared out to a quick 21-7 lead after one quarter, and outscored the Sagehens, 21-13, in the second to lead, 42-20, at halftime. Wheaton led the entire game, and tallied 26 points in the fourth quarter to win going away. The Thunder shot 46.7% from the field, including 18-33 (54.5%) in the second half. Pomona-Pitzer shot 19-65 (29.2%) from the field. 

Frosh forward Melissa Hooke (pictured) scored nine points for Pomona-Pitzer, as did junior guard Basha Brulee-Wills. Brulee-Wills also pulled down eight rebounds, while Hooke added five steals. 

Pomona-Pitzer hosts La Sierra Thursday, December 10 in a 6:30pm contest in Voelkel Gym.
