CLU's 4th Quarter Comeback Drops Men's Waterpolo

Claremont, Calif. - Cal Lutheran outscored Pomona-Pitzer's men's water polo team, 4-2, in the fourth quarter to defeat the Sagehens, 7-6, Saturday in a SCIAC match in Haldeman Pool. The loss drops Pomona-Pitzer to 11-15 overall and 3-5 in SCIAC play.

Pomona-Pitzer jumped out to a 3-2 lead after one quarter, but CLU scored to even it, 3-3, at halftime. The Sagehens then scored a single third quarter goal and kept CLU scoreless to enter the final stanza leading, 4-3. But Cal Lutheran outscored Pomona-Pitzer, 4-2, the rest of the way for the victory. 

Timmy Hardman (pictured), Adam Ward, and Phillip Clayman each scored two goals for Pomona-Pitzer.

The Sagehens next play in the SCIAC Tournament, which will be hosted by La Verne on Friday-Sunday, Nov. 20-22.
