Slow Start Dooms Men's Water Polo Against CMS

Claremont, Calif. - Pomona-Pitzer's men's water polo fell behind, 5-1, after one quarter, and couldn't make up the gap against cross-campus rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, losing 12-7, Wednesday evening in a SCIAC match-up at Haldeman Pool.

CMS's early lead continued through the second quarter, with the Stags leading, 6-1, at halftime, before Pomona-Pitzer's offense started rolling. The Sagehens scored four third quarter goals to close the gap, 8-4, heading into the final quarter, but Pomona-Pitzer couldn't maintain the momentum.

Phillip Clayman (pictured) scored twice to lead Pomona-Pitzer, while Adam Ward, Timmy Hardman, James Baker, Neil Forsythe, and Mark Hallman each scored one.

The Sagehens host Cal Lutheran Saturday at 11am in Haldeman Pool to close out the regular season conference loop. The SCIAC Tournament will be Nov. 20-22 hosted by La Verne.
