Box Score Claremont, Calif. - Pomona-Pitzer scored two second half goals to defeat visiting Chapman Wednesday evening on at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Stadium. The Sagehens lifted their record to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in SCIAC, while Chapman fell to 4-7 and 1-6. Pomona-Pitzer's current SCIAC record leads the conference.
Chapman's Baylor Hogan scored in the 44th minute to give Chapman a 1-0 halftime lead. After the break, Alyssa Kim continued her recent scoring streak. The junior forward scored in the 65th minute off an assist from Natalie Barbaresi to equal the score. Pomona-Pitzer kept the pressure on, and in the 81st minute Nadia Alaiyan (pictured) knocked a header in off of a free kick for the final margin.
"This was our first gritty win," said Head Coach Jen Scanlon. "Chapman challenged us mentally and physically. In the first half we didn't handle it well, but in the second half we figured out how to get it done."
Pomona-Pitzer hosts Whittier Saturday at home at 11am.
