Redlands, Calif. - After a scoreless first half, Redlands defeated Pomona-Pitzer's men's water polo squad, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at Thompson Aquatic Center in Redlands. With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 8-13 overall and 1-3 in SCIAC play.
In a tight defensive battle, neither team scored in the opening two quarters. Redlands scored first, though, in the third period before a James Baker (pictured) goal knotted it, 1-1. The Bulldogs added two more goals before Timmy Hardman scored with just 11 seconds remaining in the third to cut the Redlands lead to 3-2. In the fourth quarter, Redlands shut down Pomona-Pitzer's scoring, while adding two Bulldog goals midway through the final stanza for the win.
In an upcoming Wednesday doubleheader, Pomona-Pitzer hosts Chaffey College at 4pm, and then returns to the pool at 7pm for a SCIAC match against Caltech.
