Claremont, Calif. - Winning all events but one, Pomona-Pitzer's men's swimming and diving squad handily defeated Caltech, 231-54, Saturday in Haldeman Pool to open the 2015-16 season. The Sagehens also claimed their first SCIAC victory of the season, as well.
Pomona-Pitzer's individual wins came from Jack Swanson in the 500 free (4:49.68) and 1000 free (10:01.75), Erik Garcia in the 50 back (25.65) and 100 free (48.96), Kyle Dalrymple in the 50 breast (27.87), Samuel To (pictured) in the 100 fly (52.92), 100 back (52.82), and 200 IM (1:58.01), Adrian Hui in the 50 free (12.77) and 50 fly (24.01), and Teddy Koerner in the 100 breast (59.32). Koerner, a frosh, jumps onto the Sagehen Top-10 list at #8 in his first Sagehen outing. In addition, Jeremy Goldberg won on both the 1-meter board (164.45 pts) and 3-meter board (151.05).
The Sagehens also won both relays, with the quartet of Garcia-Dalrymple-To-Hui winning the 400 Medley Relay in 3:35.47, and Ryan Franzese-Hui-Koerner-Austin Abrams joining forces to win the 400 Free Relay in 3:18.53.
The Sagehens host the Pomona-Pitzer Relays this Saturday, Oct. 31 in Haldeman Pool, beginning at 11:00am.
