Sagehens Split At Posada Royale Invitational

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Junior Allie Frappier (pictured) had a combined 39 kills and 43 digs as the Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team split two matches at the Posada Royale Invitational, held at Cal Lutheran.

Pomona-Pitzer started the day with a 3-0 win over previously unbeaten Hendrix, winning three tight games by final scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-23. In their second match, the Sagehens battled back from a 2-0 hole to force a fifth game against Texas Lutheran, but fell 22-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-20, 9-15.

With the split, the Sagehens move to 4-2 on the season with both losses coming in five games after falling behind 2-0. Hendrix fell to 4-1 with the loss, while Texas Lutheran improved to 4-1 with their win.

Frappier had 16 kills and 18 digs in the 3-0 win over Hendrix, then tallied 23 kills and 25 digs in the five-game loss to Texas Lutheran. Last week, she had 32 kills and 22 digs in a five-game loss to Willamette, the second-highest single-match kill total in school history. She is averaging 23.7 kills and 21.7 digs in her last three matches.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action tomorrow for matches against Schreiner and UC Santa Cruz on day two of the Posada Royale Invitational.
