Box Score

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Taylor Will scored twice and Kristina Hulse and Nicole Campbell each had a goal and an assist as the Cal Lutheran Women's Soccer team earned the 2013 SCIAC title with a 4-1 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

With the win, Cal Lutheran concludes the regular season at 16-4 overall and 12-2 in the SCIAC, edging out Pomona-Pitzer (13-3-1, 11-3 SCIAC) for the top seed in the conference tournament. The Sagehens will be the second seed and will host one of two semifinals on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. against CMS, while Cal Lutheran will host Chapman in the other semifinal. The championship will be played on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Will got the Regals started in the 22nd minute with a goal off a pass from Gilbert, and Hulse added a back-breaking goal with just 22 seconds left in the first half to give Cal Lutheran a 2-0 lead heading into the break. The momentum carried over as Will scored again off a Hulse feed just 1:45 into the second half.

Freshman Nadia Alaiyan (pictured) scored her first collegiate goal off a pass from Nicole Quilliam in the 62 minute, but Campbell closed out the scoring in the 74th minute to make the final score 4-1.

Freshman goalie Corey Goelz had eight saves for the Sagehens as the Regals were able to test her often. Kristin Bailey had six saves for Cal Lutheran, which held a 15-13 edge in shots for the game.

Pomona-Pitzer will be competing in the SCIAC Tournament for the third straight season, and will host a playoff contest for the first time in program history.
