Quilliam's Brace Gives Sagehens 2-1 Win At Redlands

Box Score

Redlands, Calif. - Junior midfielder Nicole Quilliam (pictured) scored both Pomoma-Pitzer goals, including the tiebreaking one with 18:21 left, as the Sagehens took a 2-1 road win over Redlands on Saturday in a SCIAC contest.

With the win, the Sagehens continue their strong start, improving to 7-1-1 on the year and 5-1 in SCIAC play. Redlands falls to 2-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in league play with the loss.

Quilliam scored in the fourth minute to give Pomona-Pitzer a quick 1-0 lead, converting off a crossing pass from senior midfielder Allie Tao. Redlands tied the score with a goal from McKenzie Oliger at the 36:51 mark to knot the score at 1-1 going into the locker room.

The score remained the same until the 72nd minute, when Quilliam scored her second, converting on a rebound shot in front of the net after a shot from junior midfielder Amanda Coba was blocked with 18:21 to play. It marked the second time in the last three conference games that Quilliam has scored twice, as she also had a two-goal game in a 4-1 win over Chapman last Saturday (scoring her two goals one minute apart).

Corey Goelz had two saves for the Sagehens in goal, including coming out to stop a breakaway in the second half on Erin Lau with the score still 1-1.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Wednesday for a pivotal home game against SCIAC co-leader Cal Lutheran, beginning at 4 p.m.
