Pomona-Pitzer played an outstanding first half, as it took a 24-22 lead into the break after holding the Tigers to just 7-29 shooting, behind nine points from senior guard Alexis Sones (Los Angeles, Calif. - pictured).
However, Occidental came out with renewed life. Elizabeth Messick then scored two straight baskets inside to make it 40-24, and the run didn't stop until the Tigers went ahead 46-24 on a Brandon lay-up.
Freshman forward Alice Timken (Albany, Calif.) finally stopped the drought with a three-pointer with 12:40 left in the half, but the Sagehens were unable to mount a comeback rally after Occidental build the huge lead.
Sones finished with a team-high 15 points for Pomona-Pitzer, while freshman guard Juliah Shay Kim (Bakersfield, Calif.) added 12. Messick had a double-double for Occidental with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Corley finished with 12 points.
