Sarah Queener

Sarah Queener enters her 15th season as head coach of Pomona-Pitzer women's Lacrosse in 2025-26, where she has transformed the program.

Queener began in 2012 with a team that played several games without any substitutes and finished the regular season tied for last in the SCIAC (1-7), but took just two years to lead the Sagehens to a tie for first (8-2) in 2014.

In addition to the success on the field, Queener's teams have ranked No. 1 in the nation in team grade point average for multiple years, including her most recent team who also went 18-1 and made it to the Sweet 16.

Prior to joining the Sagehens, Queener spent the previous two years as the head coach of the Newport Harbor High School girls lacrosse program, where she led the Sailors to playoff appearances in each of her two years at the helm. As the head coach for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps from 2007-2009, Queener's teams compiled a 40-7 record and qualified for the NCAA tournament in each of her three seasons. She led CMS to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2007 and its first NCAA tournament win in 2008.

Queener began her collegiate coaching career at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she served as an assistant coach from 2004-2006 and coached under the tutelage of Hall of Famer Pat Genovese.

Queener was a four-year starter at Yale University where she was a two-time All-Ivy League performer, an IWCLA All-American and a North-South Senior All-Star. During her senior year in 2003, she led the Bulldogs to an Ivy League title and an appearance in the elite 8 of the NCAA tournament. She continues to play in the summer months and was most recently a member of the undefeated championship team LuvLax in the 2022 Lake Placid Summit Classic Tournament.

A native of Penn Yan, New York, Queener comes from a lacrosse family. Her parents Harry and Patricia are lacrosse coaches at Penn Yan Academy,  her brothers Brett and Brice are lacrosse coaches who played professionally, and her sister Sylvia was an All-American at Limestone University and currently coaches alongside Sarah on the Sagehens sideline.
