ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis Team continued to dominate their SCIAC opponents, defeating Chapman University on the road on Saturday 8-1. The No. 4 Sagehens had little trouble defeating the Panthers in doubles, but taking five singles matches at ease.
Season Impact: The Sagehens improve to a 11-3 record overall and are 4-0 in the SCIAC.
Caroline Casper and Maria Lyven controlled their no. 1 doubles match from beginning to end, defeating Alisa Ogranovich and Madison Ross 8-2. Arianna Chen and Lucy Jiang followed with an 8-2 victory over Nasilisa Trofimova and Nicole Fouts 8-2 in no. 2 doubles. In no. 3 doubles, Grace Hruska and Jay Kim completed the sweep with an 8-1 win over Anna Kaplan and Delara Fotovatjah.
In singles, Jacinta Chen took a commanding win over Naomi Lee in no. 3 singles with a pair of 6-0 shutouts. In no. 4, Rebecca Salaway did the exact same thing, shutting out Nicole Fouts with two 6-0 sets. In no. 1 singles, Lyven cruised to a 6-0 and 6-2 win against Ogranovich and Alex Ferry defeated Raven Hampton 6-1 and 6-3 in no. 6. Lucy Jiang battled through two tough sets, but prevailed over Trofimova with a 6-4 and 7-5 win. Melisha Dogra dropped a three-set thriller against Kaplan in no. 5 singles 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.
