
TEMPE, AZ — The Pomona-Pitzer Women's and Men's Tennis programs added more accolades to their incredible 2017 seasons. Sophomore Caroline Casper finished the year ranked as the No. 4 singles player in the country in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, and senior Jake Yasgoor finished as the No. 6 singles player on the men's side with both earning All-American honors.
Casper had an amazing season for the Sagehens, earning First Team All-SCIAC honors and finishing the season as the SCIAC Athlete of the Year. Casper earned All-American honors for the second season in a row after making it to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
Yasgoor also had an impressive season, earning All-American honors, First Team All-SCIAC honors and making his way into the NCAA Tournament.
In the final doubles rankings, the team of Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen finished the year ranked No. 4 in the country. The pair earned All-American status after earning a spot in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Arianna Chen and Casper also cracked the top-20 at No. 19. Zhao also finished the year as the No. 19 ranked singles player.
Making their way into the final men's doubles rankings are Spencer Simonides and Antony Bello. The pair, both seniors, also qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
As a team, the women finish the year ranked No. 6 while the men finished ranked No. 12.
