Women's Swim & Dive: Sagehens Impress At Cal Baptist Tri-Dual

RIVERSIDE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swim team battled against two talented Division I programs on Saturday afternoon, completing a tri-dual meet against Cal Baptist University and Cal State Bakersfield. The Sagehens took the Top-5 in eight events.

In the opening event, the Sagehens finished third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as their A Team comprising of Allison Liu, Alex Gill, Abby Smith, and Hannah Zurmuhl combined for a time of 1:48.97.

Allison Liu placed third in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 59.34 seconds. First year Haley Kirtland impressed in the 200 Freestyle, taking fifth at 1:57.78, while her classmate Abby Smith took fifth in the 200 Butterfly at 2:09.55. Hannah Zurmuhl tied for fifth in the 50 Freestyle at 24.87 seconds and later Alex Morse took fifth in the 200 Backstroke at 2:16.13.

At the boards, Emma van der Veen finished third with 200.50 points and Ruby Epstein was fourth at 194.00 points.

In the final event of the afternoon, the Sagehens took fifth in the 400 Free Relay as Kate Denend, Zurmuhl, Kirtland, and Liu combined for a time of 3:40.89.
