COMMERCE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swimming and Diving Team got off to a promising start in day one of the SCIAC Championship on Thursday night, taking first place in the A and B final of the 200 Yard Medley Relay and leading the conference with 156 meet points.
In the opening event, Angela Ling, Mackenzie Cummings, Allison Liu, and Hannah Zurmuhl combined for the A Final victory in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.92. Their time was the third-fastest time in the nation. In the B Final, Sarah Jin, Alex Gill, Sabrina Kwan, and Denise Dao took first at 1:43.85.
Over in the 800 Freestyle Relay, the Sagehens took second in the A Final as Kirsten Mortimer, Maddie Kauahi, Anna Newman, and Zurmuhl combined for a time of 7:40.08. Over in the B Final, Dao, Lavinya Yap, Cummings, and Kate Denend combined for second at 7:50.36.
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again tomorrow in day 2 of the SCIAC Championship. The preliminaries will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the finals start at 5:00 p.m.
