Pomona-Pitzer Athletics

Kate came to Pomona after applying Early Decision I. She loves running because "I fell in love with running at the very end of high school, after a lifetime of trying countless other sports.  Running is the simplest and the most rewarding athletic adventure; I crave the natural high that comes from a great workout!  The pure joy of the movement helps you reflect on what you have done, dream of what you can do, and enjoy where you are right now." And she likes the Pomona-Pitzer women's cross country team because "I cannot imagine my college experience without my incredible teammates.  We push each other to improve, but also calm each other down when things get hard.  A love of running is only one of the many passions we share.  I am blessed to be part of a group of girls who are so intelligent, motivated, kind, and hilariously entertaining!  I know we will stay friends for years after college running is over."

2009 Highlights: Ran fourth on the team at the UC Irvine meet, finishing 40th (out of 114 finishers) in 20:35. Kate ran a strong 19:24 at the UC Riverside 5k to finish fourth on the team, and then clocked 24:59 over 6000 meters at the home West Region Preview Meet on Oct. 3 to finish fourth on the squad. Kate finished seventh on the squad at the SCIAC Championships with her 25:28 6000m time at Prado Park. Finished 7th on the team at the home NCAA West Regional Championships in 25:47.

2008 Highlights: Ran 20:26 for a 5k at the UC Irvine meet, and then ran 24:45 at the Redlands 6000m Invite. In late September at the UC Riverside Invite, ran a PR 19:46. Finished 28th in the mid-October SCIAC Multi-Duals in a PR 24:22. Finished 36th at the SCIAC Championships in 25:43.
