Sagehens Jump Out To Huge Lead, Defeat Occidental 13-7

Los Angeles - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team roared out to a 9-0 lead at the half and cruised from there to take a 13-7 win over Occidental in a road SCIAC game on Saturday afternoon. 

Junior Aubrey Douglass (pictured) had a big day with three goals and four assists for seven points for the Sagehens, who improve to 2-0 on the year after defeating Whittier 17-4 on Wednesday in their opener. 

Sophomore Rebecca Long added three goals, while juniors Sarah Markowitz and Ally McLaughlin each added two. Long, Markowitz and McLaughlin each had two goals at the half to help the Sagehens out to a 9-0 lead. Sophomore goalie Gaby Fukumura had eight saves in the first half alone to keep Occidental off the board until intermission.

The Tigers scored the first three goals of the second half to close to 9-3, but Douglass scored to stop the run, and then had two goals and an assist after Occidental came within 10-5 to help put it away. 

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action on Wednesday for a road game at Chapman, beginning at 7 p.m.
