OSHKOSH, WI. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country Team trudged through rough conditions of Lake Breeze Golf Club at the Pre-National race hosted by University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, taking fifth place as a team with 277 points. Battling the muddy elements and the inclines of the course, the Sagehens gained a valuable experience from this meet to better prepare them later in the season.
"Overall today was a bit of a struggle for our group," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "I was happy with the effort from the Sagehens, but today was simply an off day for our group. We fought through some very muddy conditions, some falls, and learned some valuable lessons for the future."
Andy Reischling was the highest finishing Sagehen, taking 10th overall at 25:35.5 while freshman Dante Paszkeicz finished 57th, clocking in at 26:13.2. Adin Becker followed right after in 58th at 26:13.4. Freshman Owen Woo crossed in 69th place, timing in at 26:17.3 and his classmate Ethan Widlansky took 83rd at 26:22.6.
"We'll return to work and regroup as we get ready for the championship portion of our season," said Coach Carpenter. "I am confident our group will rebound and will be ready to bring our best in the coming weeks."
Up Next: The Sagehens will begin racing in the postseason on Saturday, October 27 at the SCIAC Championship in Prado Park in Chino, California.
