Men's Water Polo: No. 17 Sagehens Battle Whittier At Haldeman Pool

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 17 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team hosts Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Whittier College on Saturday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Haldeman Pool.

Giveaway: The first 100 students with a valid Pomona or Pitzer Student ID will receive a free Pomona-Pitzer Drawstring Bag courtesy of Sagehen Athletics.

The Sagehens host the Poets in their home pool after they fell to Whittier at the Slade Aquatics Center 7-6 in overtime in the their first SCIAC meeting of the season.

The Sagehens are led this season by Joseph Schafer who leads the team with 47 points and 31 goals. Adam Gross trails Schafer by just three points as he leads the team in assists with 22 and tallied 22 goals as well this season.

Daniel Diemer leads the Sagehens in goal coming off of a week where he was selected as the SCIAC Water Polo Athlete of the Week by leading the Sagehens to a 3-1 record at the Harvard Tournament where they upset No. 15 ranked Brown 7-6. Diemer has appeared in 18 games this season with 310 saves.

The Poets are led by Carlos Heredia Viteri who leads the team with 46 goals this season while Aidan Tol leads the Poets with 14 assists. In goal for the Poets is Murat Ersoz who leads the team with 113 saves this season.

Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
