Men's Water Polo: Sagehens Go Perfect At Troyer With Day 2 Wins Over McKendree And Navy

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team capped out a perfect 4-0 record at the Gary Troyer Tournament with a 20-8 win over McKendree and a 12-6 win over Navy on Saturday at Haldeman Pool.

Season Impact: With the wins, the Sagehens improve to 9-8 overall on the year.

The Sagehens started the day with a big 20-8 win over McKendree as Sam Gorcey-Biblowitz and Dylan Eliott both earned hat-tricks with three goals each in the win. Max Ries, Jacob Niskey, Joseph Schafer, and Adam Gross all had multi-goal games as well. Doulas Webster got his first collegiate win in goal for the Sagehens to go along with one save and one steal.

McKendree stayed with the Sagehens early on in the game as Cade Curry put the Sagehens up 1-0 but McKendree responded with back to back goals to end the first to take a 2-1 lead.

Pomona-Pitzer came out and exploded on offense for nine goals in the second and shutout McKendree to take a 10-2 lead at the half.

The Sagehens went on to score 10 goals in both halves as they netted four in third and six more in the fourth as they cruised to an easy win in game one of their day two double header.


The Sagehens shared the scoring against the Midshipmen as Adam Ward, Eliott, Niskey and Keegan Coleman had shared a game-high two goals in the win. Riley Mangan, Schafer, Mark Hallman and Gross each chipped in with one.

Pomona-Pitzer came out and flexed its muscles early as they shutout Navy in the first period while getting goals from Ward, Eliott and Coleman to take a 3-0 lead.

The Sagehens scored the first six goals of the game as they scored three-straight in the second from Ward, Eliottt and Hallman before Navy found their first goal of the night with 4:31 left in the half.

The Midshipmen outscored the Sagehens in the third 3-2 for their only period of the night but the Sagehens shutout Navy in the fourth and used their big first half to their advantage as they went on win 12-6.
