Men's Water Polo: Sagehens Beat Redlands, Advance to Championship

PASADENA, Calif. – The No. 17 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team opened up with a 3-0 lead and dominated the Redlands Bulldogs, on their way to 12-7 win the the SCIAC Semifinal Saturday afternoon. 

The Sagehens led by as many as seven goals in the game. James Baker scored all three of his goals in the second period to give Pomona-Pitzer a 10-4 lead at the break. 

Timmy Hardman added three goals of his own in the win. Adam Ward and Joseph Schafer each scored twice. Riley Mangam and Jacob Niskey both scored one goal. 

After trailing by seven heading into the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs scored twice in the last period to bring the final to 12-7. 

Next Game: The Sagehens (22-8, 10-0 SCIAC) advance to the SCIAC Championship tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Fans can follow the game with these links: Live Video  Live Stats

Game One Recap

The No. 17 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back, beating the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 21-12 in the first round of the SCIAC Tournament.

Ten different Sagehens scored in the effort with Adam Wardleading the pack with four goals. Timmy Hardman followed behind with three goals.

After the Sagehens went into the half up 11-5, the Kingsmen went on a 2-1 run to start the third quarter. But Pomona-Pitzer outscored Cal Lutheran 5-1 the rest of the period, going into the fourth quarter up 17-8.
