Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo team went on a 5-0 run to turn a 3-3 tie into an 8-3 lead and went on to take a 13-8 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Friday evening at the Air Force Mini-Tournament.
With the loss, the Sagehens see their record slip to 2-7 on the year, snapping a two-game win streak after they defeated Cal Baptist and Occidental last weekend.
Garret Schoeman had five goals for Mercyhurst, including three in the pivotal 5-0 run in the second quarter. Brett Luehmann added three goals and Danilo Svorcan added two.
James Baker, Ryan Higgins and Stephen Vint (pictured) each had two goals for the Sagehens, which trailed 12-5 going into the fourth quarter and cut the lead to 12-8 with 4:30 to play, but could come no closer.
