Men's Track & Field: Sagehens Sweep SCIAC Multi-Dual 1

ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Track and Field team completed a sweep in the SCIAC Multi Dual 1 on Saturday afternoon, triumphing over Occidental College, University of La Verne, and Chapman University. The Sagehens outscored the Tigers 101.00-61.00, the Leopards 103.00-59.00, and the Panthers 139.00-7.00. This meet marked the first time the Hens defeated Occidental in a multi dual since 2013. The men took first place in nine events, with Cal Neikirk winning in three.

"I was thrilled with what our group was able to accomplish today," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter after the meet. "We went into this meet with the goal of leaving with a 3-0 dual meet record and we were able to get it done. The guys stepped up and did what they needed to do individually to assure that we met our collective team goal."

The Sagehens controlled the long-distance events as Peter Davis won the 1500 Meter run with a time of 3:56.28 while teammate Carter Floyd finished in second at 3:56.50. Andy Reischling won the 5000m at 15:14.06 as the Sagehens secured all top-4 spots in the race. Adin Becker took second at 15:17.06 while Jeremy Adams finished in third (15:18.71) and Owen Woo in fourth at (15:23.02). Julian Degroot-Lutzner won the 3000m Steeplechase at 9:34.27 while Daniel Rosen followed in second at 9:43.59.

Neikirk won two hurdle events, taking the 110m (15.32) and 400m (54.70). He also won the high jump with a mark of 1.90m. To earn more meet points, Neikirk competed in the long jump for the first time in his collegiate career, placing fifth at 6.30m.

"Cal was huge for us today," Carpenter remarked after the meet. "He won 3 individual events and scored for us in two others (Triple Jump and long jump). In total, Cal accounted for 19 points against Occidental. Cal is always willing to do whatever the team needs, in this meet he long jumped for the first time since high school and was able to score points for the team.

Ethan Hardacre won the long jump once again, posting a mark of 6.66m. He followed up with a victory in the triple jump at 14.05m."

Over in the throws, Calvin Aylward won first in the javelin, hurling the spear at 51.96m. His teammate Nathan Gallatin took second at 49.55m.
