OJAI, CA. – The Pomona-PItzer Men's Tennis Team sent Jed Kronenberg and Joshua Gearou to Ojai, California to compete at the Ojai Invitational this past weekend. Kronenberg competed in the Division III West Singles and reached the quarterfinals while Gearou exited in the round of 32. The two paired up in the Division III West Doubles where they finished in the quarterfinals.
Kronenberg opened up his singles run against Ryan Dugan of UC Santa Cruz and won 6-4 and 7-6 (6). He followed up with a three-set victory over James Wei of Caltech, dropping the first set in a close 6-7 loss before coming back 6-3 and 6-0. He fell in the quarterfinal to Chase Lipscomb of University of Redlands 6-0 and 6-3. Joshua Gearou dropped a three-set thriller to Miha Valencic of Caltech 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (1). He also retired via injury in the first round of consolation against Matthew Yanuck of Whittier College.
In the doubles rounds, Gearou and Kronenberg defeated Nathan Saragoza and Luis Rojas 8-6 in the first round, but fell in the quarterfinals to Ransom Braaten and Jake Haffner 8-3.
