CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team closed out the Stag-Hen Invitational with a lopsided 8-1 victory over Trinity University (Tx.) on Tuesday afternoon. The Sagehens had no problem taking down the Tigers, dropping only one doubles match while sweeping through the singles.
Season Impact: The Sagehens improve to a 9-3 record overall while remaining ranked 12th in the nation.
Kalyan Chadalavada and Jed Kronenberg won their doubles match handily, taking down Wilson Hamilto and Jace Akagi-Okuma 8-2. Marko Mandic and Quinn Hirsohn won 8-3 in no. 3 doubles to give the Hens the lead while Octave Bellet and Avery Bicks fell in a close 8-5 battle in no. 1.
The Hens managed to make easy work in singles as every member won in two sets. Kronenberg earned a pair of 6-1 wins to give the Hens a 3-1 lead while Bellet took down Jordan Pitts 6-1 and 6-2. Josh Gearous clinched the winning point, taking down Wilson Lambeth in no. 3 singles with a 6-2 and 6-3 win to make it 5-1. Mandic took down Akagi-Okuma 6-1 and 6-2 in no. 4 while Sam Malech took a 6-0 and 6-3 victory in no. 5. Jacob Schoenherr capped it off with a 6-1 and 6-2 win in no. 6.
