Baseball: Sagehens Drop SCIAC Round Robin Game To Cal Lutheran 19-6

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer baseball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Cal Lutheran 19-6 on Sunday afternoon at Ullman Stadium.

The Sagehens struggled to find any offense early on against the Kingsmen and fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first after a RBI double followed by a RBI single gave Cal Lutheran an early lead.

Pomona-Pitzer scored one run in the top of the second as sophomore Matt Omori singled home sophomore Cade Hulse to cut the lead down to 2-1.

The Kingsmen would then go on a scoring streak at the plate as they drove home three runners in the third, six in the fourth, three in the fifth and five more in the sixth to hold a 19-1 lead after six innings of play.

The Sagehen bats came back to life in the top of the seventh as Pomona-Pitzer strung together a few hits and senior Kevin Brice hit a RBI single to left field to bring in freshman Chasen Wilson and junior Tanner Nishioka hit a grand slam to right field for his third home run in two days. The Sagehens battled back late in the game but it wasn't enough as the Kingsmen went on to win the SCIAC Round Robin game 19-6.

Pomona-Pitzer will play in its last game of the season as they travel to La Verne on Tuesday, May 3rd at 3:00 p.m.
